About Hebei

Most of central and southern Hebei lies within the North China Plain. The western part of Hebei rises into the Taihang Mountains (Taihang Shan), while the Yan Mountains (Yan Shan) run through northern Hebei, beyond which lie the grasslands of Inner Mongolia. The Great Wall of China cuts through northern Hebei from east to west as well, briefly entering the border of Beijing Municipality, and terminates at the seacoast of Shanhaiguan in northeastern Hebei. The highest peak is Mount Xiaowutai in northwestern Hebei, with an altitude of 2882 m.

Hebei borders Bohai Sea on the east. The Hai He watershed covers most of the province's central and southern parts, and the Luan He watershed covers the northeast. Not counting the numerous reservoirs to be found in Hebei's hills and mountains, the largest lake in Hebei is Baiyangdian, located mostly in Anxin County.

The education in Hebei has been improving with the development of economics. Many universities and high schools are qualified to accept the international students, the famous schools include: Hebei Agricultural University, Hebei Normal University, Hebei University of Economics & Business, Hebei University of Technology, Hebei University, Hebei United University, Hebei University of Science and Technology, Yanshan University, Hebei Medical University, North China Electric Power University, Shijiazhuang University of Economics, North China Institute of Science and Technology, Hebei North University, Chengde Medical University, Shijiazhuang Tiedao University, Hebei Institute of Foreign Language etc., the famous high schools include Shijiazhuang No. 25 High School and Shijiazhuang No. 42 High School.

Hebei Normal University

Hebei Normal University is a provincial key university with hundred years' history and glorious tradition. The university originated from the Beijing Shuntianfu School that was created in 1902 and Tianjin Beiyang Female Normal School that was created in 1906, which is one of the earliest and most scaled advanced normal universities in China. Since the establishment of the People's Republic of China, the school has trained more than 180 thousand professional talents for the country.

Hebei Institute of Foreign Language

Hebei Institute of Foreign Languages (HIFL) is a public institution providing a high quality education, with a strong emphasis on foreign languages instruction, professional skills, employment and careers. The institute has a history of over 100 years and traces its origins back to 1906 when it was known as the Funing Teachers School. It weathered the storms and bumpy roads of the 20th century, and then in the year 2002, it leapt from being a teaching school, to become an institute of foreign languages. The institute is located on 35 hectares of land and has idyllic surroundings, with the Daihe River bordering the school to the north, and the Bohai Sea lying to the south. In order to meet the demands of an ever-increasing number of students, the institute is in the middle of expanding. The institute buildings will occupy an area of 180,000 square meters after being finished.
